TRADE PROMOTION
The Second Trade Forum
March, 2018
The second trade forum was organized by Agricultural Extension Center Bridges in cooperation with the Agriculture and Rural Development Support (ARDS) program sponsored by USAID.
During the forum a number of issues important for the development of small and medium size agricultural businesses were discussed that included quality standards and requirement for fruits, berries, vegetable and dairy products, and organic production trends. Representatives of small and medium size agricultural businesses received a unique opportunity to obtain recommendations from traders and wholesale consumers (supermarkets, hotels, restaurants, etc.), find new market channels and evaluate economic feasibility of certification and production of organic products.
The forum allowed goat milk producers to establish new marketing channels for their products in supermarkets that were previously sold only through small street vendors and open air markets. Certification of organic products and harmonization with international quality standards gained particular interest among the participants.
